Connected
This work portrays several members of the Mendez Family, an aboriginal native Mbya Guaraní community in northeastern Argentina, in a town called Chafariz in the province of Misiones, near the border with Brazil. It is a forgotten village in the middle of the jungle, with 110 inhabitants, mostly members of this family, who maintains their traditions, cultivates and prepares their own food, drinks the water from the stream, builds their homes with mud and straw and bases their life on natural resources.
Something very striking is that although they do not have access to electricity, they can connect to the internet through the satellite signal, have smartphones and laptops, connect between communities, chat, get appointments, keep informed of the world around them. They load their equipment at the houses of neighboring settlers, who live a few kilometers from their community, who have electricity in their homes.
A family that stays connected to the universe that surrounds it, respecting its environment, its ancestral culture, and at the same time uses the new technologies to connect with the outside world, without forgetting its origins, its essence.
