City of Samba
It is a work on carnival floats abandoned in Rio de Janeiro, in a place called "City of Samba" and surroundings, in Rio de Janeiro, near the port and the bus station, where the most part of carnival floats are deposited and created.
The work aims to be as a metaphor of the big social, political and institutional crisis in the city and the country.
The city of samba is synonymous with happiness, enjoyment, these desolate floats seem to say otherwise, look in big contrast with that phrase of that famous brazilian song: "O Río de Janeiro continues beautiful"
The overall everything is decadent, except the most important teams which are supported with large capitals, the rest are in large sheds very old and neglected, which look rather as abandoned. Some of these floats have faces, it seems like looking with sad eyes, like a being who has been abandoned.
They are floats that are there with the passing of the years, some of them are recycled and reused, others are forgotten, the crisis in the city and in the country also seems to dent the soul of the city, its carnival.
