Baba Yao
Austin is a Kenyan football coach, living in Mathare, one of the biggest slums in Nairobi. He started cleaning up the garbage bit by bit on a dumb site in his community. Every night people from neighbouring communities would drop their garbage there and he would have to start cleaning again. This for a while, winning inch by inch, meter by meter to the garbage to make a level playing field for children.
The neighborhood is strongly affected by the business in an illegal brew called Chang'aa, added with highly toxic chemicals, very popular in Kenyan slums, being one of the factors with highest mortality rate. It is produced right there on the banks of the river.
Austin began to help alcoholics, disabled, homeless, including anyone who needs help. Austin's engagement has been so powerful, reason why he was baptized as "Baba Yao”, which means "The father of all”.
He currently works as a member of the "Futbol Más Kenya" team.
