Terraces of Alemão
Complexo do Alemão is one of the largest favelas in Rio de Janeiro and considered one of the most violent. In it live more than 70,000 people.
With the institutional, political and economic crisis in Brazil, the president's impeachment has intensified violence in communities, confrontations between police and bandits, and between groups of drug traffickers struggling for the power of the neighborhood.
In this context, life continues for its inhabitants. The complex has as a characteristic to be distributed in diverse hills that contain it and delimit the diverse neighborhoods that compose it, all the houses are irregular constructions, and the great majority of them have terraces overlooking the complex, where people spend a lot of time, one space of intimacy and relaxation in the middle of thousands of houses.
This series seeks to portray everyday life in the Terraces of Complexo do Alemão.
